Karoo Angus is a family business, run by John Reen and his daughter Annie Scott, along with her husband Tony Scott and their son Riley.
John and his late wife Monica purchased “Karoo” in 1988, and moved from their dairy farm beside Sydney’s water supply, Prospect Reservoir.
John’s beginnings were humble, and hard work defined his days. His father was tragically killed when John was only 19, so John returned home to support his mother and four siblings. He went on to create a long and successful presence in the dairy industry, before establishing his stud and commercial Angus herds at “Karoo”.
John’s incredible story can be read in Central West Lifestyle Magazine, edition #3.
John’s daughter Annie has proven herself as a hard-working and astute member of the Karoo team, tackling physical work outdoors with the same finesse she handles the administration and marketing aspects of the business.
She also assists her husband, Tony, with the management of his earth-moving business, and has become John’s right-hand woman since the passing of his beloved Monica in early 2008.
Young Riley lives and breathes life on the farm, and is a great help to his mum and Pop.
