From Monhaven to Karoo.
The Karoo Angus story began long before the family moved west. John Reen was born in Sydney in 1942. At 19, after his father was tragically killed, he returned home to support his mother and siblings on the family dairy farm beside Prospect Reservoir.
Those years shaped his eye for cattle, his appetite for opportunity and his instinct for breeding animals with lasting value. With Monica, he built a highly respected dairy operation, advancing the herd through careful selection, AI and embryo transfer, achieving state and national recognition for production, butterfat and show ring success.

West to Karoo.
When the Prospect property was affected by plans for Eastern Creek Raceway in 1988, John and Monica made the decision to move west. They purchased "Karoo" at Meadow Flat, between Bathurst and Lithgow, and turned their focus to Angus.
The same principles carried through: sound structure, production, fertility, function and the ability to perform over time.
Annie and the next generation.
Today, Karoo Angus is led by John and Monica's daughter, Annie Scott. Having worked alongside her father for many years, Annie brings deep knowledge of the cattle, the country and the clients the program serves.
Annie and her husband Tony, along with their son Riley, are taking Karoo into its next chapter: practical, considered and results-driven.
Grounded in what works.
Karoo breeds bulls proven in its own large-scale commercial program. Annie measures a bull's value not by how he presents on sale day, but by what he contributes over years, through fertility, structure, maternal strength, temperament and the performance of his progeny.
